DAY 01:
Quito-Coca by airplane, from Coca
We値l travel south by small pick-up or by bus to Shiripuno Bridge (approx. 3 hrs). Lunch. Then
we値l take the motorized canoe downstream,
to reach the Shiripuno Lodge, which is at 210
meters.a.s.l. The ride will take approximately 4 hours and it offers a great
chance to get introduced to the wide diversity of wildlife
in the rainforest. Dinner and lodging.
DAY 03:
Before breakfast We will descend the river with no motor to
listen to Rainforest waking up!!! Birds and mammals getting
up!! Breakfast. Then we値l go to a back-door trail to
explore different type of forest and increase our chance to
find more animals. Lunch. In the afternoon we will take the
motor canoe and make an excursion into one of the small
oxbow lake where i t is possible to see different kinds of
plants and animals such as; the bizarre bird Hoatzins.
Dinner. Night Walk into to the night life of the forest.
Lodging.
DAY 04:
Early Breakfast. Canoe drive to our next destination for
the day. We値l take a hike on the el Saladero trail where
sometimes there are chances to find the animals licking
minerals and admire the richness of plants and trees along
the way. Box lunch. In the afternoon we will hike back to
the boat and return to the Lodge. Night excursions to get
into the night life of the forest and to try to see Caiman.
Dinner and lodging..
DAY 05:
After breakfast, navigate upstream to the Huaorani Community (ムoneno); early canoe
rides is great to surprises animals crossing the river
such as Capybaras, Tapir or resting Caimans
all of them with frequent fliers like the Macaws
and Toucans. At the Huaorani Community you will
see the effects of cultural expose that are living
all the different indigenous groups in the Amazon.
The Huaorani still keep most of their traditions
such as; hunting with blowguns and poisoned darts,
their unique language Wao Terero, the knowledge of
the forest and oral tarditions.The tourism activities
brings revenues to all the families by selling handcrafts,
canoe drivers, native guides, housekeeping, kitchen assistants
and others activities. Lunch. We値l continue the navigation
upstream to the bridge where we are going to take the bus
back to Coca (arrival at 16:30 approx.).
