We explore the depth of Amazon Rainforest, we walk on suspended forest in the Cloudforest, checking all the orchids possibilities.

Ecuador also home of 1600 birds, 332 species of mammals, butterflies, within the country live 16 ethnics groups, a series of 70 volcanoes creating the Avenue of the Volcanoes in the Andes and its wonderful beaches… Ecuador is home of Diversify of Life.

We will explore the diversity of Orchids kind all the different habits like Andes mountains, the Western Cloud forest to Pacific and check them path sea level. We explore Eastern side of the Andes towards the Amazon.

CHASING WILD ORCHIDS ON EASTERN ECUADOR

DAY 1 – Arrival in QUITO and transport to the hotel.

Day 2 – QUITO to BAEZA.
After breakfast we drive through Quito. Quito is the capital of Ecuador, the highest capital in the world and belongs to the world cultural heritage. After the meal, the drive to the Amazon basin, crossing the Andes with up to 4,000m altitude. On the way they find the first orchids: Oncidium, Cyrtochilum, Pleurothallis, Epidendrum,Chondrorhyncha, Cochlioda and more.

Day 3 – BAEZA to ARCHIDONA.
The road to Archidona leads through the Sumaco Napo Galeras National Park, 21 orchids and 8 species of bromeliads are endemic. Oncidium, Stanhopea, Maxillaria, Epidendrum, Oncidium, Myoxanthus, and Sobralia are on the way to the waterfall through fascinating landscapes. At the destination itself, it expects a more than rich nature where there is more to discover. The further way leads through the cloud forest of the Andes with its incredible biodiversity. On orchids they will find Maxillaria, Pleurothallis, Oncidium, Prosthechea, Stelis, Rodriguezia,Phragmipedium.

Day 4 – ARCHIDONA to PUYO.
In the port of Misahualli you can watch monkeys before we take the boat to the Shuar. These natives live unaffected by technology and modernity, their medical treatments, which have been the same for centuries, are particularly interesting. On the way to Puyo, we drive through one of the most aristocratic areas in Ecuador: Maxillaria, Pleurothallis, Oncidium, Prosthechea, Stelis, Rodriguezia, Phragmipedium and many other species.

Day 5 -PUYO to SUCUA.
Today we go to the CERFA reserve. On the way, they meet other settlements of SHUAR culture.  In Macas we will make an intermediate stop, there the river UPANO, with its fascinating landscapes, thrills in many places. Also this trip is species rich, they are now encountered in their natural habitat in Epidendrum, Oncidium, Psygmorchis, Warrea, Maxillaria, Dryadella, Vanilla, Myoxanthus, Trisetella.

Day 6 – SUCUA to GUALACEO.
Today the Phragmipedium is day. In addition to the dams that are indispensable for Ecuador’s electrical power supply, the sites of Phragmipedium reticulatum and pearcei grow in the running water on the slopes. Locations of Sobralia, Lycaste, Elleanthus, Pleurothallis round off the day.

Day 7 – GUALACEO.
Today we stay in Gualaceo. You can spend the day relaxing and exploring Ecuagena’s huge
greenhouse with thousands of different orchids. It is probably the largest collection of Andean Orchids in the world. Here you can see your program for preserving the orchids with your own eyes. After lunch, continue to Chordeleg, the Ecuadorian city of silver. In many shops you can admire the art of craftsmanship, and buy cheap souvenirs for those who are at home or for themselves. If you want to stay in the nursery, you can stay here too.

Day 8 – GUALACEO to EL PANGUI.
The highlight of this day is the location of Phragmipedium besseae. For this we have to go in the southeast direction to the Amazon Basin. Before arriving at El Pangui, we pass another very rich territory, where there is the chance of Telipogon, Epidendrum, Sobralia, Oncidium, Prostechea, Maxillaria and Stelis at the natural site.

Day 9 – EL PANGUI.

In the morning, visit the 3rd nursery of Ecuagenera. Here the tropical warm orchids are cultivated. For the afternoon the visit of the Condor Binational Reserve Park between Ecuador and Peru is planned. This area is known for its rare, endemic species. Scuticaria salesiana.

Day 10 – EL PANGUI to LOJA.
Today is one of the highlights of the tour. The trail takes us through the Podocarpus National Park, along Zamora Chinchipe; Next to a stunning waterfall, there are over 560 bird species and 63 orchid species. Rodriguezia, Epidendrum, Masdevallia and many others can be found. After lunch we return to the Andes, where Masdevallia, Sobralia, Eriopsis, Epidendrum, Maxillaria, Prostechea are waiting for them.

Day 11 – LOJA to GUALACEO.
With a visit to Loja, the “musical and cultural capital of Ekuador”, the day begins for them.
Attention should be paid to the numerous country-specific dishes and sweets. On the way back to Gualaceo we will stop several times to find Fernandezia, Telipogon, Cyrtochilum, Oncidium, Maxillaria, Myoxanthus and Epidendrum.

Day 12 – GUALACEO to GUAYAQUIL.
After a tour of the city through Cuenca, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the visit of the production of Panama hats, the visit of art markets in the morning, you drive back over the Andes 4,000m up to Guayaquil. On the way we stop for those who can still see orchids to find Epidendrum, Odontoglossum and Masdevallia. When we take them to the hotel or airport, we say goodbye to you.
